Welcome to Flower City Letters! I’m Elaina DeBoard, a calligrapher and engraver based in The Flower City of Rochester, NY.

With over seven years of experience, training from calligraphy masters around the world, and hundreds of happy clients, I have the ability and passion to create connection through the written word for you. Calligraphy adds warmth and intimacy to gifts, weddings, and branding events – feelings that can only come from something created by hand with care.

I specialize in several styles of pointed pen calligraphy: Spencerian Script, Ornamental Penmanship, and modern calligraphy scripts (I also use these styles in my hand engraving).

My Training

A Calligraphy Journey

When gifted with two vintage Ornamental Penmanship books in 2014, I began my calligraphy journey and fell in love with the tactile experience of writing with nib and ink.

I consider myself a lifelong student of calligraphy and commit to regular practice and study. I’ve been lucky to take classes with skilled calligraphers during my journey, and I wanted to document my learning process along the way.
